Frequently Asked Questions

No.  We will perform a free, no obligation review of your existing portfolio and current financial plan.  We will conduct a full analysis of your current holdings, highlight strengths and weaknesses in the portfolio, and offer a suggested course of action.  We will also discuss all pertinent financial planning issues and provide initial guidance on how we would work with you to achieve your goals.  This is typically an excellent starting point and can provide you with a valuable comparison of our services.

For our first meeting, simply bring any investment statements you would like us to review and any financial planning issues you would like to discuss.  The first meeting will be about you and what you are looking to achieve going forward.  We will discuss our process and how we will work with you to achieve your goals.

Our client’s assets are typically held with a large, prominent third-party custodian.  Our primary custodian is Charles Schwab Corporation.  All brokerage accounts are established in our client’s name at Charles Schwab, thus you remain the owner of your accounts.

Yes.  Charles Schwab is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).  Securities in your account are protected up to $500,000 for brokerage accounts held in each separate capacity (e.g., joint tenant or sole owner), with a limit of $250,000 for claims of uninvested cash balances.  For details, please see www.sipc.org.

This coverage provides you protection against brokerage insolvency and does not protect against loss in market value of the securities.  In addition, NovaDius carries an Errors & Omissions insurance policy.

Yes.  You have access to your money at all times.  Charles Schwab will either provide you with a checking account and debit card tied to your account and/or an online money link from your Schwab account to your chosen bank account.  Once the money link is established, you have the ability to move funds at your discretion.

NovaDius has the ability to trade securities in the account and be paid a management fee from the account based on the fee structure outlined in the Client Agreement.  We have no other access or authority to access any funds in your account.

Yes.  You can access your account online through the Custodian’s online portal.  Through your online access, you can view current holdings and review account statements, trade confirmations and tax forms.

Yes.  We use the Orion Financial Planning app which allows clients to view their entire financial picture on one app.  It is easy to download from the Apple Store and we are happy to help you set that up.

Charles Schwab and our other custodians send monthly statements, as well as confirmation notices on all trades.  NovaDius provides detailed quarterly performance reports for your accounts.  All statements can be delivered electronically via e-mail.

We manage all types of investment accounts including IRAs, individual taxable, joint taxable, personal trust, 529s, and 401(K)s.

All investment portfolios are managed by our in-house team, which includes two CFA Charterholders.  Portfolios are customized to each client’s specific needs as it pertains to their financial plan.

Our team of advisors has decades of investment, portfolio management, and financial planning  experience.  They have worked with both individuals and institutions, having successfully navigated numerous bull and bear markets, interest rate cycles, and market crises.

We believe in an open and transparent relationship with our clients.  Our fee structure is simple.  In the majority of our client engagements, we receive a fee based on assets under management (AUM).  Our fees may vary depending on the scope and type of work involved, but all fees are fully disclosed upfront and based on serving the client’s best interests.

Our fees are typically based on a percentage of the assets under management.  We will quote an exact percentage or flat fee to you in advance, based on both the nature of the engagement and total dollar value of your aggregate account.  Accounts are billed quarterly from a small amount of cash in your account.  For example, if an account value is $100,000 at the end of a quarter and is being charged 1% annually, then the quarter bill will be $100,000 times 0.25%, or $250 for the quarter.

NovaDius advisors initially work through a unique consultative process that usually involves multiple meetings during the first 60 to 90 days of the relationship.  After the initial “onboarding” phase, we will schedule meetings as often as clients prefer, with at least one meeting per year.

At NovaDius, we believe in educating clients with regard to every aspect of their financial lives.  We keep clients up-to-date on topics that impact both their investments and financial planning issues.  We provide weekly market commentaries, monthly investment notes, and quarterly newsletters pertaining to what is occurring in the financial markets.  We also keep clients informed on changes in financial matters that will impact them on matters such as tax and estate planning law changes, college funding, and social security and Medicare.

The ETF Store, Inc. is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an investment adviser. The firm is doing business as NovaDius Wealth Management.  The ETF Store was established in 2008.

No.  You have the right to terminate the Client Agreement and/or liquidate your account at any time by providing us with 10 days advance written notice.  Any fees will be refunded pro-rate from the date of termination to the date to which the fee has been prepaid.

Elliott Homan

Vice President of Operations and Advisory Services

My Story:

Like many in our field, I was initially drawn to financial planning by the numbers. But what’s kept me here is the people. Over the years, I’ve seen how easily financial guidance can become disconnected from the lives it’s meant to serve. I wanted to be part of a firm where relationships come first—where we know our clients well enough to anticipate their needs, not just react to them. Novadius is that firm.

Why Novadius:

I joined Novadius to be part of something different. We started this firm to challenge the status quo of an industry where promises often go unfulfilled—firms claiming to offer “customized plans” and “deep client relationships” while managing hundreds or even thousands of accounts. That’s not us. At Novadius, we limit the number of clients we work with so we can deliver on what we promise. Every plan is tailored, every strategy is intentional, and every relationship matters. We treat our clients the way we treat our families—because that’s how it should be.

Family:

I live in Fairway, Kansas with my wife Michelle, our son Henry, our daughter Elizabeth, and our dog Rush.

Hobbies:

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I’m also proud to serve on the Finance Committee at our church.

Education & Certifications:

  • B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration with a minor in Communication Studies, The University of Kansas
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®)
  • Series 65 License
  • Life & Health Insurance License
